Huaca de la Luna

We're stir crazy!!!! With so many different people in our house setting things up or fixing things, we've barely been able to leave for days!! So we sent them all home at 1pm today and took off on a feild trip! We visited the archaeological site of Huaca de la Luna (Temple of the Moon). Here is more about it from wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huaca_de_la_Luna
The history we heard of the Moche people was incredible...and pretty gruesome. So many great things to see! A short tour packed with cool finds. It was perfect! Here are some pics!
These are pics of the exterior of the 3rd phase of the temple

 Habitations
Filming something inside....The guy with the big gold head thing was depicting holding up the cup of blod after sacrifice (in this scene)

This monster was called "the decapitator" but to me he just looks like a multi tasking construction worker.
This wall was so ornate and beautiful!

Do you see this itty bitty James at the bottom? I can't even imagine how incredible this temple was in it's hay day!

  1. Awesome photos! Is this one of the ruins in Trujillo? I like that name, Temple of the Moon. Keep the pics coming!
